hmm. if you look at the brics countries their currencies are all sucking the dick to the dollar. maybe brics is their equivalent of breton-woods. still I don't see why any reasonable buyer/seller would want to hold any brics reserves for longer than absolutely necessary considering stability, and economic conditions, in those member countries. I don't think Saudi Arabia will join for this reason in particular. In the coming years, the strength of the USD as a reserve currency will only improve as the USA handles inflation well and rekindles its own industry while the rest of the world is dealing with inflation markedly worse. Don't believe me? Study how well USD performed during the cold war and consider now we are entering a second cold war.

a lot of people are dumb and just think, "can I afford to pay this in my monthly bills" and then if the monthly payment is low enough it's fine to them. buying with credit cards does carry some nicer consumer protection features with it like anti theft, fraud protection and you can dispute purchases on them more easily than with debit cards
