Based, settlement has always been probablistic, it's even possible to have separate chains up to 2 or 3 or more blocks deep, but the chances of that happening become exponentially lower the more blocks deep it is. I think the most that's ever happened was 2 blocks deep? That's why coinbase and most places require 2 confirmations, because the chances of having a 2-block reorg are already incredibly small
