I think the fud frenzy has reached new levels. Very encouraging.

Picrel to go with the other artifact posts. Golden finger tips for the mummy of a Pharaoh.

I don't concern myself with short-term fluctuations. I want to be holding something that will retain its value for the next ten or twenty years at least, through violent economic upheavals. I have no idea whether bitcoin will or not. I am quite certain about gold and silver. They will still be valuable long after I am dead just as they were long before my ancient ancestors were born.

A wise man once told me that experience is proportional to the amount of things you break. This goes for tools, machines, artifacts, and hearts. Live and learn, Fren.

I agree with this. The government will protect banking interests for as long as it can, up to and including changing the terms of existing credit contracts to protect banks from the inflation they are helping to cause. As long as the USD has any value, that value will be extracted in favor of the banks. It will take a complete collapse of the USD to dislodge the banking cartel.

Name-calling a country is no substitute for reasoned analysis unless you are a journalist or politician. Or a paid fud?

Brazil is one of the top ten gold producers in the world and has other natural resources in abundance. Russia is the third largest gold producer in the world and has other natural resources in abundance. The average Indian housewife has more gold than you could ever dream of. Estimates run as high as 20,000 tons of gold in private Indian hands. China is the world's largest gold producer and has been buying large quantities on top of that. South Africa is another top ten gold producer and also has other natural resources (like platinum). The BRICS have gold. Lots of it.

The fact that all of these BRICS countries have social and economic problems (so does the USA by the way - big ones) actually argues in FAVOR of them turning to gold to help stabilize their international relations. When the Soviet Union was unable to feed its starving population with its dysfunctional government farms, it had to buy wheat from Canada. Guess how it paid for it? Gold.

The worse off those countries are, the MORE they need a gold-backed currency for world trade. And necessity will drive their cooperation.

They aren't fungible. Hard to evaluate. Fragile. Some are easily made or modified synthetically. Not much use other than as jewelry. I like them, but don't think they are a good store of wealth.

When in the history of human civilization, going all the way back 5000 years to ancient Egypt before money was even invented, did people NOT want gold? Now it is possible that people will not want to buy gold from you at the particular price you are asking for it. That just means you are asking too much given the state of the market. But people will ALWAYS want gold - gold dust, gold nuggets, gold ingots, gold jewelry, gold finger tips, and gold coins of ALL sizes.
