I guess retail really stays with you forever. I haven't worked retail in 12 years and I'm still triggered.

Sup /biz/,

I'm 20, in college, and working a computer job at a wealth management firm. I make a little around 1000 a month, and I can budget stuff out enough that it seems like I can save about 200 every month. I'm thinking about investing into stocks and bonds and whatever.

My boss says that I ought to save enough money to live off for 6-9 months in the event of an emergency before I even consider anything like investing. At the rate I'm saving now, it'll take over a year or so to have 9 months put away. In a week-long e-mail "course" offered by my budget software's creator, he suggests to start investing immediately because time is the most important factor in how much you'll get out of an investment.

What do you guys think?
