Bobo, I'm going to be real here, I think its justified that you are wrong on a macro level. Don't get me wrong, I do think the rally this year will slow down and 2024 may be rough but in the big picture we are going into the upward trend again. These kinds of cycles come in 3 years, in the dotcom bubble we had 1999 rally, the 2000 peaks, and the 2001 bear market. In the housing bubble we had 2006 rally, the 2007 peaks, and the 2008 bear market. We had the 2020 rally after covid crash, the 2021 peaks, and the 2022 bear market. At best we have the big tech leader stocks cooling off and the rest of the markets slowing down to new supports. I would be in cash now for sure, but I will not be afraid to buy later this year, there will not be a big crash.

I'm actually going to have to side with trump here. Mcdonalds was a great play for many many years, on par with coca cola easily. But I don't feel the love for the company that much anymore. Sure it will go up but I see smarter investments out there. I don't see how they can throw some new tech at their restaurants and fix problems like waving a magic wand. Fast food had some bad PR in the past few years, theres no space for mcdonalds blunt approach. You got competitors like chick fil a delivering a top down quality customer experience the staff hustles and presents themselves better, you just feel a sense of workmanship and workplace energy. It translates into better food, there just isn't pride in mcdonalds experience any more. Hell, the chick fil a guys have jesus on their side and go to church. Meanwhile ronald mcdonald goes around bullying crypto bros for fun. Upper management at mcdonalds is showing problems but you don't see it in other fast food companies.

Wow, well no objections, moving on. I place microsoft in second place. Dont get me wrong, microsoft is a very strong company and satya is a promising CEO. But truth be told microsoft never built the branding power apple could do. Apples team manages to take an up and coming technology and profit off it immensely while making a moat effortlessly. Microsoft is a strong contender for second place, sure windows is losing market share but microsoft dominates in government contracts, and its bing search and push into AI is capable of eating into other giants like google. But its acquisitions of software companies is incredible, a cash flow power house.

I'm going to be real mid with you guys, while I do think telecom stocks like verizon are undervalued share wise I do not feel safe buying into them in this high interest rate environment. Maintaining their expensive network and offering all that bandwidth comes at high costs and when money is harder to acquire for cheap loans they will have to cut back on dividends, squeeze out customers. And while I do agree REITs perform well in a ROTH IRA, this is not the time to buy in. They are still too popular, and with mcdonalds facing pressures there is still room for pain in real estate. For me, its kellogs and general mills. At less then a hundred dollars a share for them, the average joe could easily build a position by allocating a percentage of their paycheck into these stocks every week or biweekly. Cash flows are strong at these staples, and there is always going to be customers buying a box of honey nut cheerios or cheez its. Shareholders in these stocks are more conservative with holding investments and the risk of selloffs are lower.
