KO and JNJ are top tier dividend kings with other companies like PG. They'll grow slow but be consistent.

you'll likely need $1M-$2M in investments (not necessarily your capital) to live comfy depending on the amount you need and the yield at time of using divvies.

I'm my previous focus were steady dividend companies, but my focus shifted more on dividend growth companies like MSFT, AAPL, SBUX, etc. With my average dividend growth about 8%. With that, based on the rule of 72, my dividend income will double every 9 years regardless of any new capital added. Some companies are up to 15-20% growth while others are from 2% (like KO) to 6% (JNJ).

If you're young, you'll want the primary focus to be on total return. I'm in the middle of my investment strategy so I'm more risk adverse and focusing on "sure things" if there is such a thing.

Pictured is my current divvy portfolio. mind also that I have a slightly larger portfolio in mutual funds that also pay dividends but are focused on growth, emerging markets, etc.

portfolio is looking solid, here's my holdings and watchlist

my dividend portfolio, which is only about 38% of my stock investments pays me around $6.3K per year in dividends (i reinvest all of them). I'm up solid in my dividend portfolio not including dividend reinvestment. not sure what the actual number is tho.

depending on your age, this should either be a small portion of your portfolio (younger) or becoming a larger portion of your portfolio (older/retire early)

but dividends are your fren, even companies that grow at a slower rate because they're more stable.

Take JNJ and PG for example, great dividend growth companies but their dividends and price grow at a slower rate, but provide less risk

why do people on /smg/ not understand that people have different risk allocations and some would like to preserve capital and generate income and not yolo into meme options?

stay mad. i'm not scamming anyone, everyone needs to do their due diligence when reviewing stocks. not my job to do it for them, i'm just showing them the way i generated a half million dollar portfolio that pays me more than a minimum wage worker in passive income every year and it continues to grow far outpacing inflation every year too

you can start dividend growth investing at any income level. it takes lots of time. mix in with some growth investing and you'll make it fren

look at what 1 share of ABT (Abbott Laboratories) did for this lady. Time is the fren of the dividend growth investor: http://www.thecompoundinvestor.com/grace-groner-abbott-labs-millionaire/

pic related is mine.

JNJ and CSCO are really undervalued right now. CSCO is riskier than JNJ. I have NEE and i'll buy it even at overvalued valuations because i think its going to headline the future of energy companies.

If I was starting a portfolio today, i'd have multiple sectors:

Energy: NEE
Healthcare: JNJ
Consumer Staples: PG
Consumer Discretionary: LOW
Financials: JPM
Defense: LMT
Industrials: PH, ITW or HON
Tech: MSFT
Materials: SHW

i forget the other sectors but thats a solid list of companies to do some DD on

>get paid less in dividends
what you talking about tarddot?

every stock I currently own in my divvy portfolio has increased its dividend every year since i've owned it. if they cut it, I sell and put it into a safer dividend company.

do you actually think every dividend lowers with the price? nah mate, you just buy more (if its a good company) and lock in higher yields
