I only swing trade, no long hodl. However, I do like to do some FA before selecting a stock to trade just because I think good fundamentals give the stock some buoyancy and a modicum of protection against the dreaded bad news gap down blood fountain. Stuff I always check:
-P/E, P/B, EPS, debt and cash position relative to competing companies in the same sector
-Recent earnings record. Over the past couple years have they mostly beat, mostly missed, or a mix? If needed will I feel okay with holding through an earnings call?
-general assessment of the health of whatever the sector is and whether there are any major catalysts upcoming that could result in difficult to predict volatility

That's pretty much it. Also I will not trade anything with a long term bearish or flat trend. Line has to be trending up long term otherwise I don't wanna play.

Anyone here use schwab? Recently transferred my positions. Is streetsmart edge any good?
