i am so mad at the greenies telling the yukon government to lock down the water rights up there. Those dredges are the most efficient ways to placer mine short of hydraulic mining, and clean for the environment too. They just spit out gravel, you flatten it back out with some dirt and seedling trees, boom your growing back in no time.

the mercury your probably finding was used in rocker boxes with mercury traps or from men not knowing how to pan with mercury and loosing it. That mercury from the dredge probably hasnt moved more than a few meters since, its incredibly dense horrible substance. Often when I am creek crawling on famous creeks in BC, I ll find a peanut butter like paste of gray mercury amalgam stuck in cracks or in gravels. I ll usually use a tiny back pack dredge to clean that shit up, its horrible for the environment and its loaded with gold.

I am sure the mercury in the sluices of the dredge is still probably loaded as well if its still out there.
