Thinking about getting my tax refunded into a new checking account. I've been hearing about banks randomly closing customer accounts for "suspicious behavior" so I want a backup account somewhere.
Anyone know any banks currently doing promos on new checking accounts?

Stocks will keep going up at least until they start going down again. We will know for sure when that happens because price changes will switch from their current upward direction to a downward one. The main indicator that we can use to identify this switch is that we will see stock prices falling instead of rising. That will tell us when returns on stocks have changed from positive to negative. With negative returns, that means that stock values will shrink rather than grow. Thus, the prices at which stocks are bought and sold will be going down instead of going up.

Let's say I'm long a stock because in the long run I'm pretty sure it will go up. However, it could be a bumpy ride. Maybe now I'm in a situation where I think it might go down for a bit. I'm not certain... it could also randomly start pumping, who knows. So, I don't want to sell. But what would be a good hedging strategy with put options? How far out should expiry be, and what kind of strike?

Stocks will keep crabbing at least until they start doing something again. We will know for sure when that happens because price changes will switch from basically no direction to any direction at all. The main indicator that we can use to identify this switch is that we will start to see stock prices rising or falling instead of just sitting there. That will tell us when returns on stocks have begun changing from flat to positive or negative. With positive or negative returns, that means that stock values will be exciting to watch rather than fucking boring. Thus, the prices at which stocks are bought and sold will be changing instead of just staying exactly the god damn same. In fact, if a stock's price is changing, then that means it isn't crabbing.

>There's a 91% chance, historically speaking, that stocks are gonna go up in 2023
>Since 1928, the S&P 500 is up roughly 55% of the time following a year that preceded it with a gain
>So that makes sense when you consider the market is up three out of every four years on average
>The stock market has been down following an up year 18% of the time
>It was also up 18% of the time following a down year
>So that leaves just 9% of the time when stocks were down one year and then down the next year for back to back consecutive losses
>Meaning 91% of the time, that's not what happens
