What do you think the implications are of Ampleforth's rebase lag?

In an efficient market, the rebase would be 100% of required change, for example, if price of token reaches $2, then supply should double such that token hits $1 after rebase.

But instead we have this 10% rebase lag that distorts things. The rebase lag keeps the price above equilibrium, and supply below equilibrium.

But what is the implication of this distortion? This is the part I am struggling with, if any of you have some thoughts.

1. Why tf do people care about rebases, the percentage of the network stays fixed. ??

2. When does the rebase happen in UTC time?

3. How the fuck do exchanges deal with token amounts changing constantly?
How in hell are we gonna use AMPL as a medium of exchange really?
