Hey frens, anybody ever go treasure hunting? I found a news clipping from a local newspaper about 150 years ago talking about a legend of a cave of gold and silver veins that local Native Americans showed a settler. According to the article, the settler was returning to England to secure resources and equipment to mine the cave but disappeared and never returned (thought that perhaps he died in a storm crossing the Atlantic)

The area in question in the article is within 15 minutes of me and is a local park area so I'd be free to explore it. Any geologists that can point me in the direction of resources to indicate if the rock in my region would even support gold and silver veins? Should I just stumble around the woods with a metal detector?
