The point is, when they want to fuck over a group of people (the citizenry of the US), one side makes it an identity issue to oppose it, floods the media with material that shows how important it is to their party's identity, then the other side just shrugs and says "hey we did what we could, it's THEIR fault"

Reps and Dems pointing the fingers at eachother, where all of them get what they really wanted. It's just a show, just to keep us thinking we have a choice. Just to consolidate power in the elite and make sure a third party never disrupts the ruling order.
