>what's the story
Dad moved abroad to a yuro country with oretty relaxed laws. Dies spontaneously, relatively young, brothers and I are scattered around the world. We drop everything to arrange his funeral and deal with his estate.
Creepy man appears, claiming to be best friend of father's (reality is they were business acquaintances that fell out years ago). Has a fake will, written in a language my father barely understood, testimonied by the cockroach's bent lawyers. Before we've even laid our father to rest this guy had gone round to his banks and land registries and gotten his name on everything, then raided the house and whisked off all our dad's paperwork and deeds. We take him to court, and to cut a long story short, the damage is done, the courts recognise his will as legit, and the cockroach intends to sit on his portion of the estate and refuse to sell.

He's legally entitled to a quarter (three brothers + the vulture) but in this poohole country there's no way to force a sale, so he fully intends to sit on the house and assets until we pay, and critically, he has his name on the deeds and is the sole owner (on paper) at the moment, he just can't sell it by himself as we attained a court order to freeze any sale.

He claimed:
>house
>dad's vehicles
>dad's ASHES (this guy is a sadist with a rictus grin)
>bank accounts
>we suspect him of raiding our father's safe, but a number of people stole from the house.

There's no way out of this except for going along with his agreement. Courts here won't force sales or equal division, he's going to sit on the estate until they rot or he can scam his way to selling them without us with his crooked lawyers, or more realistically, my brothers and I need to sell.

Wouldn't change a thing as it's only his name on all our dad's assets. As I said, we're over a barrel.

I'm sorry to hear that man, that sounds really horrible. I hope you can find a bit of peace about this.
