BA in history who got a job doing analytics.

I make decent money, probably because I am adaptable and pretty smart. I can also "get out of a bind" fairly quickly and know how to avoid letting blame fall on my shoulders.

A couple of tips to guys looking for jobs:

1) Lie on your resume. Embellish. Make shit up.
You were in a frat? Now you were the president of the frat.
You were on a sports team = captain

2) get out and do things. Volunteer on weekends. They can help you score massive brownie points and will all give recommendations

3) If you have any "missing time" as in "time where you had no job" there is a very easy way to get around this. Buy a cheap shitty domain name. Use bootstrap to set up a simple template. Start filling shit in. FROM THERE buy a prepaid cell phone and attach this number to both your website and the resume. This will be your primary contact for your missing time. Make sure that you list the business as closed and that you are no longer working there because the business shut down. Give at least a month of padding. Now wait for the call, bullshit about how great you are in the 3rd person of course. Often companies won't even bother to call.

4) Look fucking good on your interview. Smell nice, have a nice pressed suit. Have nice hair. GET A FUCKING FITTED SUIT AND SHIRTS.

5) Firm handshake, eye contact, etc. Give a little personality too. Don't fuck up the interview. Describe your skills, education, and other things of note. Mention that you have a girlfriend/boyfriend somehow. If they ask about interests chuckle at first, then tell them the truth - you like movies, reading, and cooking. On off days you find things to do in the park with your friends.

Grab 2-3 beers before an interview. Helps you relax.
