/XSG/ meta-thread: in a thread last night a FUDder admitted he was using /xsg/ for "research" (>>25348010) thus confirming a long-held suspicion of mine, namely that /xsg/ is not completely organic and whatever entity is behind its creation is also behind the ever-shifting cast of namefags, different types of FUD, and they use it for some kind of research.

Proceeding from the assumption that 4chan is not actually anonymous and that these people can figure out the identity of regular posters (I've had several of them address me, and what's creepier, emulate a posting style I didn't know I had). For example, in one thread I had an anon respond to me with about 5 screencaps he had made of my posts over the course of /xsg/. indicating that he (or they) had been keeping tabs on me. Spooky.
It's also worth mentioning that after being doxxed in an earlier /xsg/ (i posted a screenshot that had my twitter profile in the corner) I received weird mail, indicating they know my real address and have connected my online presence with my IRL identity. I know this has happened for a few other people who visit these threads too.

For what purpose is this /xsg/ research done? Any ideas or people have anything to contribute?

I personally think it sounds a lot like the personality profiling that is part of the Tavistock-led Talented and Gifted Education initiative that has been the subject of many threads on /pol/ and /x/, which is a topic that has come up frequently. Part of the tests that were given to these students were stimuli/response tests to measure their reactions, presumably to create sort of ongoing dossiers.

I also remember when a poster asked /xsg/ what were its favorite Ripple content creators, and then when answered said "thank you! this is what i was looking for!" implying they were doing some kind of research.

Anyway sorry to get meta but does anyone have anything to contribute on this? Is it being run by Ripple itself as a way of collecting consumer data?
