>> Fires 8% of workforce.
>> Next week: Announces increased dividend & 1.5B stock buyback.

Fuuuuck. I almost don't want to touch that money, this feels outright dirty to me. This is one of the reasons why I prefer pure growth stocks with no dividends & a mission statement that includes saving the world.

The buyback is especially pointless imho. There's a zillion small high quality studios that Blizzard could buy for 1.5 B. That's almost as much as Microsoft paid for Mojang.

On the other hand, if this feels unethical to me, thank god I didn't get into war or tobacco stocks.

Mid/late 2014:
>> Blizzard hasn't released a new game in at least two years now, project titan got cancelled due to not being fun enough (who knows what they'll do with assets), and the only announced game is a casual children's card game.

>> Oh, and Minecraft has >100 M players and is so successful that it's had a measurable impact on the profits of the rest of the video game industry. Mostly kids playing.

2018/early 2019:
>>Blizzard hasn't released a new game in at least two years now, Diablo expansion got cancelled due to not being fun enough (who knows what they'll do with assets), and the only announced game is a casual mobile dungeon crawler.

>>Oh, and Fortnite has >100 M players and is so successful that it's had a measurable impact on the profits of the rest of the video game industry. Mostly kids playing.

Is it a good time in the hype cycle to buy ATVI stock /biz/ ?
