Why does it need a blockchain?
I did a little research finally, but from a cryptographic perspective it doesnt make much sense to me, their token economics or especially their choice of referring to it as a blockchain when it is seemingly not based on PoW or PoS, or even public at all.

Why are there so many nodes? what do the tiers of nodes DO for the network? what is their relevance?

When this gets even a single bit of adoption you will all cry. this is the next ethereum. whales are supressing it right now and have been dumping for weeks to shake people out. they are buying your coins. the marketing will kick off as soon as bear market is over too, and the technology will be shown more. this has a native blockchain, not just pending mainnet.

I feel shit. i am more or less in charge of a family friends VEN. he wanted to invest on it at 5 dollars with 20k.

I said wait 6 months, it will be cheaper, but he wanted to 2get it over with and done". so i did it for him against my recommendation. Hes a completely tech illiterate boomer.
IDK if i should sell it for him and buy it back cheaper or not, i wanted to do this ever since the swap but obviously i shouldn't really be making this decision with his money, its not mine. but i really see VEN going under a dollar, as most alts are gonna die. i sold most my alts a long time ago.

what should i do?
