to expand on this, as long as the cpu doesn't bottleneck the gpu you have a good enough cpu.

when you have enough you have enough. it makes zero difference on performance if you buy a new cpu that is 10 times faster.
know that games usually doesn't increase physics calculations (or general logic calculations) just because you increase your FPS. at most they will check your inputs more often and use that to update the camera position or trigger sound events + queue orders for the next frame when logic calculations are actually scheduled
