I just started in July, 7 oz gold, 75 oz silver. >:-)
So while my plan may sound clever, think deeply about what i wrote, and whether it applies to your situation.
I never thought about alternatives to cash for my portfolio in the past, i just bought ETF, bonds and kept cash.
I'll replace the bonds and cash with gold from now on for the next years. Not selling the bonds i have, but not buying more either.
The BTC craze went over my head, bought some sats in 2013 in Berlin at the Computer Chaos Congress to buy coffee and pizza, but that was it.
I also think about buying some woodland to lease out and maybe camp in :-).
I think it's wise for you to have a bit of everything. ETF turned out great for me and i strongly believe it will in the future. Unless you are very poor, you don't have to risk putting it all into one asset class, you can afford to diversify.
Early retirement will not be for me, i started twice over, with two families, it drained me financially, twice.
