Its a ledger that uses nodes. But the nodes are only verified list, and the public isnt allow to join. You can run a validator, but thats simply agreeing with the nodes on the verified node list. Basically an echo of consensus. The network actually nearly failed earlier in the year. Only one node running and no one noticed because no one was using the network.

Crypto exchanges arent allowed to trade securities. So they will all likely delist XRP if its found to be a security. Regardless of what happens with the lawsuit. Its obvious Ripple has no revenue outside dumping XRP and no plan forward if theyre prohibited from selling XRP. Not many people develop on XRP without incentives. If theyre blocked from selling XRP for incentives expect most of the XRP interest and volume to dry up.
