yes, amazon has the ultimate business model
instead of a monopoly in one market, they have a noticeable portion of dozens of markets
and every separate segment of AMZN has access to the huge pool of money held in the main part of the company

they can operate in one market at a loss for years, possibly decades even, in order to kill the competition so they get a decent chunk of that market's customers
not a monopoly 's worth
but enough to more than cover earlier losses, which can then be used to move into a new market
