Not sure what that crazy spike up and down was at the end of the day. Lots of drug stocks making big moves today.

Bernanke did this “lock step rate hike” thing that was nuts. Like “well we committed to raising rates every quarter, so surely the market, the lenders, the borrowers, and all the parts of the economy are expecting us to raise rates and have prepared for it”
Really not chill. Imagine if Powell had just said “we said we’re doing it so we’re doing it” and raised rates instead of pivoting.

Some random thoughts: I think the national debate around that time had been throwing around the term “flip-flopper” at the time, especially in regards to presidential politics. When people start bashing the idea of changing your mind because of new evidence, that could really lead towards some pig-headed stupid moves.
