Taxis were a supply problem. Cities would only grant a certain number of taxi medallions per year so if more people wanted a ride they could just fucking wait. Uber letting any schlub with a Prius earn money by driving people around crashed taxi fares because it allowed supply to increase to meet demand. Yes, trains and even most bus systems are better than relying on Uber, but voters keep rejecting funding for those because they know Jamal and Shaneequa will befoul the transit system and use it to infest new neighborhoods. If states, cities, and towns were allowed to have white-only transit you'd see a miraculous revival of light rail, expansion of intercity rail, and widespread revival/creation of streetcar suburbs.
