So /biz/, first time poster here. Just made my first 10,000 bucks working a real job (used to be a carny for 5 years making cash under the table, now I design satellite hardware). Where should I put it so that I can worry less about my fiat currency being eaten by inflation? I'm not asking to become rich, or even make any kind of 'profit', but I'd like to stop worrying that my money is being eaten up every time I go to bed.

One option I've considered are breaking it up between a handful of 'large' APY credit unions, and another is just to buy 5 ounces of gold. Let me know your thoughts, or contribute some memes and banter to my thread.
