Nah. Momentum ran out. Attempts to move up kept getting rebuffed. Usual thin summer volume back in effect after a more lively than usual June and July. In these conditions prices can slump. But it's also usually a lazy slump with no panic to sustain the bears.

Ah. There we go. None of this should come as a surprise to anyone invested in airlines at the moment. The bullish thesis is about speed of recovery rather than the hit airlines took and will continue to take while demand is below pre-corona levels. Article says much the same thing in the final paragraph:

As for tomorrow, my guess is more selling at open then bullish response again similar to today's pattern.
