It uses NLP-JS which is a large popular library that can calculate sentiment. I use it completely unmodified and its like a black box to me. It's mostly used for calculating if reviews of a product seem "good" or "bad". So every time someone here posts about a stock, it treats their entire post as if its a review for the stock. I am sure its a significantly flawed concept, but the bot is mostly just for fun.
