Just got a sales position, I got to talking with a coworker and he let slip that apparently I have good looking facial hair and this was a key factor in my getting hired. Everybody else on the team has facial hair.

Is this illegal? Should I tell someone? I mean I just got a job so I'm not complaining.

Why do managers with no technical background get paid more than their skilled subalterns who know what the company actually does and create it? I can understand the manager earning more for the case of a sandwich shop, but let's say in IT, how is managing people and telling them what to do (which is just relaying orders from higher level managers) more difficult than coming up with new algorithms and being able to implement them? Ostensibly a manager carries "more responsibility" but in reality the onus is on the team to develop the product, and if they fail the people lower in the hierarchy bear the brunt of the responsibility by being downsized while the manager stays. This to me is just wrong. The manager is just a middleman. What do you think?

I have an interview for a government job coming up in a couple weeks, and I have it on good authority that I will be asked 3 questions pertaining to customer service, planning, and problem solving respectively, and if i can answer those questions well enough i'll get the job.

It sounds really straight forward, but i really don't want to fuck it up because i know how rigid government interviews can be. Does anyone know if there are some gold standard methods for those three qualifications that they're going to want to hear?

i just want to make 100% sure i say all the right things.

/biz/ there's a huge 1 year long NEET chunk in my CV since I've graduated (parents are loaded). I've applied to Bain & Company, breezed through the psychometric tests and they've just shot me an email back asking me what I've done during it.

Got a First (4.0 GPA to you Americans) and with a scholarship too. But I've been a lazy fucker since then, sitting on my laurels. What the fuck do I do, I can't let this chance slip!

Are you more of a free thinker, or do you 'kind of' let other people make decisions for you?

Before you make a quality decision, do you always have to worry about what your friends think? Do you have to take a straw poll with all of your broke friends before you can make a decision?

Do you know the difference between an emotional vested interest and a financial vested interest?

Why do I keep hearing that all that matters is experience to get a job and that people with 20+ years experience will always be hired over you?

I got into a job with zero experience beating out people 3 times my age in the group assessment with 10+ years of experience in the same field as the job.

It's because old people make shitty employees because they think they know fucking everything.

Got a 40 year old woman in training saying shit like "No offence but I did this for 8 years I know what I'm doing", then she kicks off when her break is 10 minutes late.
