As someone who owns a few dozen XMR and doesn't have too much of a stake in it, I think it comes from the fact that you would forfeit fiat fullstop, and trade only with XMR and vice versa. That's the vision that XMR followers have.

Unless you were to rent a shell company in the bahamas/panama and pay out into dollars, but no idea how you'd get that back into a US bank.

I have 73 XMR as of now, that is just small investments every week for the past 3 months.
