This one goes straight to the feels. I have a doctorate and was at the top of my class with excellent marks and all that bullshit. Worked in a lab during grad school and have been published several times in good journals, etc. Graduated and afterwards tried getting an industry job in my field. Was immediately treated like I was lower than dirt by everyone I was even able to get a measly phone interview with because "lmao you don't already have years of experience xD".

After wasting my time with this shit for months to no avail, the *BEST* I was able to even get somewhere with was some place on the other side of the company where they'd basically be paying college-intern-tier salary and even then it would only be a fucking 6 month CONTRACTOR JOB with zero benefits and absolutely no guarantees of even getting to stick with the company after. And in the likely event that that happens, I'm stuck on the other side of the country holding the bag. Fuck that.

Had a job interview last week. Hiring manager wanted a video call (no in-person because lol coronahoax). I said I can't because no webcam, which is actually true (not that I'd do a fucking video call even if I had one).

Was about to get fired tomorrow morning, but one of my co workers gave me the heads up.

Since I have a key to the office, I just figured I'd show up tonight and pack up all my shit so that I didn't have to be bothered in the morning.

I sent a mass e-mail to the staff with a photo of Thanos snapping his fingers, and when I went in the office I poured sand all over my desk....so there's definitely no going back now.

I've been stressing out over debating whether or not I should quit for the past 3 months now. It would appear that the decision has been made for me.
