You see, when dumb apes drive up the prices in predictable ways by following easily planted and botted get-rich-quick-scheme type ideas, Citadel (and other Market Makers) can make TONS of money
The initial DFV era pump, sure, that took them by surprise. Some desks lost their shirts. But within a week they had already closed the shorts, stopped the bleeding, and turned it into a profit making opportunity. And all the apes were already playing into it.
When AMC apes make the ten thousandth BUY MORE!!!! AVERAGE DOWN GUYS!!! post, who do you think is selling them those shares? And better yet, what happens to the portfolio of options they can assemble if they know what the price is going to do tomorrow? You think it goes up in value? And who do you think sells deep OTM calls to retarded apes who are being told by the shills / plants that "It's going to 30x any day now!!!!"?
