There is real bad shit going on in the markets right now, things are not good, and while it certainly isn't the end of the world it's not going to be peachy fuckin' keen either. I'm personally expecting 3300-3500 at some point this year and probably sooner than anyone cares to admit with the climb back over 4k taking until EoY if not longer. In fact the only way I could see someone having your kind of viewpoint is if they only look at equities and just don't give a shit about or know anything about (if not both) bonds and what kind of impact they can have, or broader fiscal policy, or the fact that modern monetary theory basically demands either the market the currency or the economy shit blood on a cyclical basis to pay for the continued existence and health of the remaining two. The dollar will never be allowed to die, the economy shitting too hard to be propped up as it has been would cause a lot of deaths of despair and fuck shit up en masse way more than is tenable for anyone not in an ivory tower and more than a few that are anyways, and that only leaves the markets. Which are historically ALWAYS the calf that gets slaughtered. The single only reason I don't think it'd be worse than a sharp retrace to the mid 3k range is because of how much money is tied up in derivatives, meaning indexes and blue chips don't have to take all that large of a hit to wipe out a shitload of people. And if you haven't been paying attention every brokedick on the planet being able to play options from their goddamn phone has been a thing for half a decade now.
