In Mormon theology, the Earth was formed by matter that already existed. It was "organized", rather than created. It is also taught that God came to Earth as Adam, the first man. He breathed the breath of life into the inhabitants -proto-humans- giving them will and the ability to choose, yet prevented them from obtaining eternal life.
This is the same role that the Demiurge, first of the Archons, of Egyptian mythology played. The Black Sun represents knowledge that is hidden, that which exists but is unknown. The Mormons worship the Archons.
