hard to say because we saw an attempt to modify the narrative the last few days. people are trying to decide if bad news means bad news again after bullard's interview on wednesday and are trying to gauge (for the nth time) fed's willingness to factor new data points into a softening stance or if they're going to still play hard and stonewall with 'higher for longer' thru all of 2023. It's nice the fed governors are acknowledging easing inflation and noting they don't see a wage price spiral dynamic unfolding, it's not so nice that they're all still holding to the party line of 'let's get to 5% and hold it for a while while we see how things play out'.

there is the camp thats read bad econ prints as good for pivot and the camp that reads bad econ prints as solidifying a recession. they are neck-and-neck right now and everyone is reading hard into fed governor rhetoric to try to tip the scales. My suspicion is the bears will win on this one as most governor talks the last week could effectively be summed up as "things are definitely getting better and we're optimistic, but also we don't give a fuck and we're sticking to higher for longer bitchezzzz"

It really is, only couple more weeks until we get some news and this starts setting a price floor.
It's interesting how hard the selling has been at this $2 range.
Has to be some insider fuckery going on or massive algo activity, because you'd have to be mental to sell so hard before the upcoming results.
Won't stay down for long though and it's constantly creeping up.

One thing I've been wondering about are the Triple Point shares. Doesn't Atlas still hold like 27 million of them?
I don't personally expect to get much from mine since I got just few hundred, but the ones Atlas holds is a different thing entirely. If they go for let's say $3 a pop they're looking at nearly an extra 100 mil.
Considering how this hydrogen storage stuff in the salt domes might be pretty lucrative and could even be one of those government subsidized things, there's real potential there for a quick buck.

But what if Atlas gets sold before there's any kind of an offer for Triple Point? There's no price yet for the TPR shares as far as I'm aware.
I'd imagine that if there's realistic potential to add an extra 50-100+ mil with those shares, no good businessman would just let it go.
Might mean the sale could drag on a bit if they have to wait to get some kind of an offer for the TPR stuff before they sell.
No idea how a situation like this plays out.
Either way good times coming, I really hope this goes for +$10.

Recent history has gotten us used to smart, pragmatic China, but Chinese history is filled with retarded rulers who did insane shit and killed tons of people for no reason, or just to "save face". Mao was just the most recent example. Post Mao CCP has been pretty competent, but what if Xi is actually just a retard who's afraid of the coof, or trying to save face over "defeating" it?

A more charitable explanation is that it's to curb oil demand. I guess it could be that too.

Depends who "they" is. There's definitely a large contingent of keynesians & mmt'ers who think increasing money supply does not somehow debase currency anymore because we've somehow solved for that with policy.

I know why they think that too. It's because globalization and shale oil caused so much deflation that it overpowered the money printing post GFC, and they don't understand that at all. They just see CPI not spiking and start onions-facing about "see! we can totes afford my heckin UBI and my student loan forgiveness!" (i.e. they're lefty niggers engaging in politically motivated economic reasoning)

Or you get the "demographics" people who imagine that an aging population is somehow deflationary, as though the production/consumption balance of young isn't way higher than the old. No thoughts, heads empty.
