My guess is that only a few very connected whales and some lucky motherfuckers were able to pull it on time.
However we still had a ton of oldfags who bought so much btc or eth prior that they were able to cash out well ahead of 2018 and still made out like bandits. For comparison Novogratz sold eth around 300 or so and still made $250MM because he did all his buying under a dollar. Of course there were some anons that did a 100x or more on shitcoins and got out. As far as actually maneuvering the landmines in late 17 to early 18, I think most people got had. I think a few OGs, exchanges, and the tether cartel likely ate everyone's lunch. I'm still impressed desu.
