My brother asked me to help him build his own PC and when we were looking at components u was stunned how GPUs inflated in price so much. I bought my 1070ti at $350 during a Christmas sale and somehow they're now worth $550 or something. Absolutely ridiculous. And now all the new lines are perma sold out. Ended up getting a budget gigabyte one with the rest of his PC being pretty solid value and told him to save for a solid one and wait for a price drop.
At some point I think if they were smart, Nvidia and AMD would release a midrange line like Apple had to end up doing with their iPhones but NVDA/AMD have a fraction of the competition which is why the cards are so goddamn expensive.
