It's being done purely to spite DeSantis. They're releasing this solely to tell him that Disney is still in control and they don't care about what he has to say. That's it. Of course it helps too that a lot of people are for this move, but in the end it all comes down to Disney execs wanting to show that they're still in charge, not even for him necessarily but for themselves.
