Almost all biomechanical fields such as podiatry suffer from a ton of "treatment, not cure" We do a lot of unnatural shit to our bodies physically and medicine almost never tells you not to (this extends into diet, lifestyle, exercise, recreational drug use, etc). 3/4 of issues a podiatrist is called upon for are to do with modern (last 400 years) shoe design. Unshodden third worlders have none of the same issues.
