>not even a real liquidation
There is one person, who everyone here knows about, that while being publicly short our stock is also fast approaching their own publically traded hedgefund's ATL. Twenty years of correlation gone in a month. A liquidation is as fast or slow as the liquidating party wants it to be, if they think they can get more juice out of a stone by squeezing slowly then they'll keep on pressing. It only reaches desperation when the liquidator, the prime brokers, and ultimately the clearinghouses themselves start to take on water from the positions and finds themselves imperiled. It was never one party doing the shorting, these people collude like you would never imagine.

Because a market-rigging algorithm run by central clearing FTDs on those stocks and uses the cash pool it siphons out from their buy orders to prop up the stocks of other favored companies. This is what has driven the concentration of returns by the top few companies in the S&P over the past decades.
