>Au so you don't look like a jackass
No anon that's the point. I do want it to be a jackass gift.
>follow up with something decently valuable like some Ag or 1/10 Au
But yeah I think I'll buy all my brothers a 1/10 age with their birth year on it when they turn 18. Maybe get it mounted in a ring too. But for this brother I'll probably give him $50 as a follow up which is what I gave him last year cause that's what he asked for.

If this isn't a joke comment, It's the liberty cap. Even Roman coins had it. But why do romans need a warm hat? Does it even get cold in Italy?

>modern silver coinage is numismatically noteworthy
Indeed. It's extremely fascinating to me and it's a shame there aren't many people who talk about it. coingeek made a video about it and I'm pretty sure the knowledge was new even to a numismatist coin shop owner like him.
>a large copper 1889 Mexican centavo
The oldest thing I've ever found was a 1966 quarter. Lucky bastard.
>and he had one of the 10 pesos
Hmmm guess they sort of just end up in collections without many people realizing they're worth far more than their identical clad counterparts. If he didn't notice, and lots of other people don't, then it really makes me wonder if those original silver ones still circulate in small numbers.

Niggas really see an old coin with a dead lizard on it and think it's worth something. Sorry g but it's worth 2 pence and if you're in America you might could sell it on eBay for 40¢. I'd keep it just cause.
The listings that are 1000 bucks are all scams by chink bots or boomers who "know what they got" being ignorant. Commonly people will look at prices of shit on ebay and see some exorbitant number and think they struck it rich. Many such cases!
