End result: stock never dipped below $9;
the earnings dip was $6.

The big boys are smart and powerful, but they can and do fuck up, usually on leveraged arbitrage plays where something unexpected happens, which is what the smarter folks are theorizing this insane short interest was (an arbitrage play with the bonds around the dutch tender offer)
