During the COVID crap, I accepted the fact that we have to leave the physical stuff behind after we pass away. Regardless of what happens after our bodies give out. Our property's not coming with us if the religious are right about us having souls and there being an afterlife of some kind.

That said, it depends on your family situation. If you're the last man standing in your bloodline and you can't find a decent woman to marry or at least make babies with, no. I wouldn't look down on you for being a Big Mac-munching millionaire who plays vidya all day. Because you wouldn't have heirs to pass anything down to in that situation. Why own a mansion and 18 cars if you don't become a husband and a father?

I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum as an uncle of two. When I die, I want the aftermath to be as simple as possible for my nephews. I don't want them to be overwhelmed with debt or paperwork. If anything, I want them to be overwhelmed with joy when they see my house, car, and bullion stack.

TL;DR - Spend your money however you want, but keep your family in mind when buying anything that can go up in value after you die

I'm not in the top 1% (not by a longshot), but I'm having a hard time justifying the grind towards a higher level of wealth.
House? Got the money. Car? Yep. Wife and kids? Not yet. That's the best reason I can come with because I'm not dreaming about calf skin shoes and Rolex watches.
