Variety is key as there’s no “this is 100% the answer.”

I’ve got about 80 more trees to plant in my own permaculture pursuits. Cover crops this spring plus compost brought in before any chickens are making their own. Your ability to grow your own food will be increasingly valuable and I’m afraid it is going to become a rare skill.

>pic related. New coop and beds made from trees cut down on site sown to cover crops in October. Root veg, garlic, sweet potato slips, and perennials will be grown in these beds after a deep compost topdressing around April. Fruiting vegetables will be grown among the trees I’ve planted in the larger garden space.
