I got rid of all social media two years ago as well. I have a YouTube profile so I can keep up with a handful of channels. Life is better without it. With all the channels getting banned, I plan on leaving YouTube as well. I used to frequent eight chins every day until they shut it down. Now I just check biz for 10 minutes. I'm so close to living completely off the net (minus occasional queries).

People occasionally ask me "did you see this?" or "did you hear about that?" And 95% of the time the information/event I missed wasn't even slightly important. Occasionally a "big news event" occurs and again I am filled in by those around me. I've started to understand how little what happens in the world affects our everyday lives. By being disconnected, you are better prepared to handle the events that *do* matter. You're ready to protest, or participate, or whatever needs to be done. You're not wasting your time interacting with a screen.
