My wife and I plan on doing some sort of investing with any sort of windfall money going forward. We are both 27, make arund 95k combined, no kids. We should be able to get around $5-10k per year of extra money. We have normal savings and retirement funds. Her job will be somewhat capped at pay, but it is very steady with bonus and yearly raises. My job provides much more upward mobility with pay. We want to make our money work for us.

What are some good ideaa for investments that can regularly get $5k increases in funding every year or two? Is creating our own stock portfolio a good option? What about precious metals? My wife's grandfather probably has 100lbs of silver buried in his yard, and she doesn't find that to be eccentric, so I have a long leash with which to convice her. Are there any sort of turn key operations that can get regular injections of the cash flow we are talking about, and succeed?

Just trying to brainstorm and get some creative juices flowing, outside of buying $5k in netflix stock.
