it all started in /biz/ during the last leg down of BTC, peak depression and people repeating like parrots "no new higher high=new lows". BTC was barely keeping above the $3300 mark. It was a fresh and colourful meme after months of brown bobos and red wojaks, inducing people to question the absurd world we live in and the relative importance of the actual price that's printed in a chart by the market makers to lure in bottom shorters.

After the breakout of february, even bears embraced the clown world and honker meme. March was a slow and sideways crab market which developed it's own variant of the clown and probably spreaded the meme throughout the Internet just because the market was painfully boring and people lurked out of /biz/ more frequently.

That's just my guess. Clown World rhetorics would suggest that it was actually pushed by someone with interests in waking up the NPCs, but my own behavior and Occams Razor suggest that cryptoneets were bored AF during Q1 accumulation and we organically spreaded the meme elsewhere.
