apparently Constellation Beverage (7% of global beer market, big maker of cheap wine) was in talks to buy Monster this time last year, but the deal seems to have fallen through.

could be that Monster thought it would do better on its own, could also be that Constellation wasn't as interested after looking into the details. who knows?
