It prevents orphan blocks on branches of the block chain. This alone should tell you this project is on to something. If they even pull off half of what they're attempting it's gonna change crypto forever. This shits a big deal to the future of blockchain technology.

Does it have a decent future? Coin seems solid, but is hard to argue it will gain value against Monero. Why use this when XMR exists?
