It all seems so simple when you put it that way. Ugly little paper rags, the value of which ALWAYS declines, under the control of a gang of the most avaricious, corrupt people imaginable, turned into shining silver and gold, made by divine cataclysm and extracted from the good Earth by the sweat of MEN, valuable to all people everywhere throughout the history of humanity. Count me in on that.

I think it depends somewhat on how much you have to spend. You probably want to stick to whole ounce coins when buying your first gold. That makes the entry level for gold much higher than for silver. So if you only have like $5000 or less, I suggest silver because you will then be able to have some fun selecting a variety of items and having a bunch of coins to jingle around.

If you can afford, buy some of both. They have somewhat different prospects, with silver having more industrial gravitas and gold more monetary, but most stackers would agree that they both make very good harbors in stormy economic times.

Real stackers here will help you. Ignore the nasty vermin that infest the place and you will be among frens.

I stopped consuming doom porn. Went outside. Cost of food, fuel, and housing has gone up by 50% since the last time I went outside. Go back inside. Turn on the mainstream news. President says supporting Ukraine forever is most important thing no matter how much money we have to borrow to do it, shits his pants, and staggers off stage.

I go back to consuming doom porn and fondling shinies to cheer up.

Easy to say that fiat is the big loser and probably pretty soon. Harder to say whether gold or silver is the better buy. Supply and demand are complicated. Far more complicated than just crustal abundance. For example, if gold were remonetized internationally it will leave silver in the dust. If not, silver will probably beat it out just from its industrial use. And that is way to simple of an analysis to be the basis of an "all in" bet.

I suggest buying both. And filter FUDS, shit-stirrers, and rude people.

The first coins in history were minted from electrum, a combination of gold and silver. They have always worked together, just as we stackers should work together.

This is why the uber-insiders in the world's central banks are stacking gold at record levels. Nothing to see here, folks. Just keep borrowing dollars and buying paper promises and electronic digits. I will need a bunch of you to mow my lawn and clean my pool while I bang you sister.

Small safe is just an invite to theft. Good as a decoy. Either a BIG safe or clever hiding place or both.

Don't really know about insurance. A home owners/renters policy will cover theft but you might need a rider for precious metals over a certain amount.

Fair price is whatever is the cheapest you can find. Choices are online dealers (see list in OP) and local coin stores. Ebay also works but you need to be more careful about the dealer.

I suggest buying as much as you can BUT do not get over-extended. Always keep enough cash on hand for emergencies. Being forced to sell PMs in the short term to cover expenses is always a losing proposition.

Silver and gold have different prospects. Silver has substantially more industrial uses than gold, while gold has a stronger chance at remonetization. There is more to say about it, but I think those are the most important differences.

China just completed its tenth consecutive month of record levels of gold purchasers. Almost 30 tons in August. Central Banks around the world are doing the same at smaller scales. Whatever you might think of China and the elite bankers of the world, they are not stupid and they have more inside information than anyone else. They are stacking gold for a reason. I personally stack gold and silver both. There is no need to choose only one.

Please note, "silver versus gold" is a favorite topic of some people who only want to stir shit to disrupt the board. I will give you the benefit of the doubt and answer you with civility.

It depends to some extent what you are looking for. Gold and silver have both been money for three thousand years and most stackers think they are both a good bet for surviving the likely upcoming economic storms. So if you are buying to preserve wealth either will work fine.

Beyond that, their prospects are somewhat different. Silver has substantially more industrial use than gold. But gold has a higher chance of being remonetized. Both are manipulated by unscrupulous bankers, fixing spot price, but that is getting harder for them to manage. Many people think that the prices of silver and gold will rise dramatically when the banks lose their grip on the market.

Of course you can buy some of both! That's what I do. I also suggest that you buy things that interest you rather than just the cheapest bullion.
