Sorry about that, I was gone for a while. Mainly I look for areas with thin volume in them, as that indicates that none of the market participants thought prices in that range made sense. That's where I'd stick a buy order (near the bottom) or a sell stop (near the top). I use the different time frames to figure out where the momentum would likely go based on short/long term holdings. You wanna buy into where the previous longs will support your price, otherwise they'll dump on you if they need to bail out.
Regarding value area: anything way above value area with thin volume is likely not going to stick. This goes for under/over. This is where the multiple time frames come in as what may seem overextended on a shorter time frame may be a normal range on the longer.
Point of control I am still figuring out how to interpret. The classic is high -> bull, low -> bear, but nothing is ever that easy.
