There's a little basis to this, but not much. Market cap is determined by the price of the last transaction.

Here, we're banking on the fact that XRP will be used as THE token for international settlement. Anybody that wants to do business with USA, China, India, Europe, will need to use it. All the world's GDP will go through XRP because they won't remain competitive if they don't.
